April–August 2020As public life resumed in China in 2020, buying, selling and waiting took place alongside new arrangements of movement and gathering. Between markets, commercial interiors and public commemorations, the photographs attend to the gestures through which a shared routine is re-established, and to what remains unsettled within it. Recovery appears both as the work of making a living and as a public account of how life should continue.
